Hot Off the Press!

Well, it’s been three years since To Cut a Short Story Short, vol. II: 88 Little Stories was published on Amazon, and following on from the success of that title, plus To Cut a Short Story Short: 111 Little Stories and Bound in Morocco: A Short Story of Intrigue, (both published in 2017) it is my pleasure to announce the publication of not one, not two, but THREE new titles!

This time, I have curated stories on the themes of humour and the supernatural from ‘the best of my blog,’ re-read and revised, plus unpublished stories.

40 stories on each theme have been collected into two volumes; Letters from Reuben and Other Stories: 40 Little Tales of Mirth, and The Window Crack’d and Other Stories: 40 Little Tales of Horror and the Supranatural.

These are both now available on Amazon in paperback and Kindle formats.

The third title is Flash Friction: To Cut a Short Story Short, vol. III: 72 Little Stories. This is again a mix from my blog, together with numerous unpublished stories. As before, there is an eclectic selection of genres: science fiction, crime, romance, even some humour and ‘supranatural’!

Available in paperback and Kindle on Amazon.

And in case you may not be aware, To Cut a Short Story Short: 111 Little Stories, To Cut a Short Story Short, vol. II: 88 Little Stories, and Bound in Morocco: A Short Story of Intrigue, are also available as audiobooks, professionally narrated by Angus Freathy. Available from Amazon, Audible and iTunes. Very highly recommended!

The Window Crack’d and Other Stories: 40 Little Tales of Horror and the Supranatural

A man accepts a bet to spend the night in a haunted library; a young couple swim in an abandoned quarry, with unexpected consequences; four teenage girls decide to put the legend of Bloody Mary to the test; a man investigates a bookmark found in a book on demonology, and a young girl is convinced that someone or something is trapped in an old wardrobe.

These and thirty-five other unsettling stories by Simon J. Wood will have you by turns smiling and sleeping with the lights on!

Letters from Reuben and Other Stories: 40 Little Tales of Mirth

Owing to a drugs war, a man on a walking holiday is forced to share his bed with a complete stranger; following his wife’s death, a man discovers she has made bizarre plans for his future; a woman decides to clear her clutter, with unforeseen consequences; a young lad eats a slice of forbidden cake and wishes he hadn’t, and a young woman takes part in an army pie-eating contest.

These and thirty-five other hilarious stories by Simon J. Wood are guaranteed to generate laughs on the Richter scale!

Flash Friction: To Cut a Short Story Short, vol. III: 72 Little Stories

A man places an advertisement to be murdered; a woman is operated on by giant insects; a young child vanishes at a railway station; a bookshop is the scene for a grisly encounter; and a woman wins an unwanted tattoo.

These and sixty-seven other curious stories by Simon J. Wood invite you into a twilight world of the whimsical, the macabre, and the malevolent.

    1. Thanks very much, Graham, all made possible through the wonders of self-publishing via Amazon’s KDP. I doubt they’ll be best sellers (I wish!) but nice to see them for sale on Amazon anyway!

  1. This is very exciting news, Simon. Your stories are always intriguing and very well written; I can’t wait to read your newest publications! Congratulations! 🌟

    1. Why, thank you, Nancy! I’m quite thrilled to have doubled my number of published books, and particularly to now have additional volumes of humour and supernatural stories (a handful of which could have gone in either volume) as well as the usual eclectic collection.

I believe there are some very enjoyable and memorable stories there, and I’m confident that Letters from Reuben and Other Stories, probably my favourite, will bring a smile (at the very least) to the most miserable of countenances!
